On Monday, 24th of February, a group of students from Faculty of Biotechnology had an academic field trip to a dairy products factory and a training centre in the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, as a part of the industrial project course. The students experienced two different types of processing milk products, manually and mechanically.
For the second time in a row, Biotechnology students were privileged to get an accommodation at the Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute for training (AGERI), during their midterm break.
Faculty of Engineering, ECE-Grad Committee organized a very successful and wonderful grad presentations event which was held on 29: and 30/1/2014. ECE want to deeply congratulate our Grad students for the great efforts and excellent presentation skills both orally and written, moreover, most of external examiners also gave us very positive feedback and commended the unique skills and team work spirit that mastered the presentation.
Faculty of Pharmacy graduates, Nehal Aasem , Hadeel Mohamed and Abd El-Fattah Sobhy submitted their graduation project titled (Pharmacological Intervention of Chemically Induced Depression in Rats), for poster award competition at The 3rd International Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Natural Products. The project was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Mona EL. Naa and A.L. Ahmed Refaat. After judgment was done by a board of jury on the clarity of poster, overall responses to the questions of the judges and the completeness of work, the poster was announced to have won THE BEST POSTER PRESENTATION. The conference was held on 4-6 January 2014 at the National Research Center, Dokki, Cairo, Egypt. The purpose of the conference was to promote discussion and interaction among academics and researchers in the field of natural products.
On Tuesday, 24 December 2013, we held a field trip for our 2nd Year Graphics and Media Arts students to visit the 24th Youth Salon in the Palace of Arts – Cairo Opera House – Ministry of Culture. Today’s field trip, was an enriching experience exposing our beloved students to diverse approaches in multiple fields of visual creativity accomplished by promising, young and evolving artists. Many fruitful discussions and opinion sharing have been held on the spot adding to our students’ Cultural Knowledge and Visual awareness.Another brick has been added to the solid base of our student’s future artistic career.
Academic Field Trips are usually very informative, packed with hands on experiences where students can practically and on site apply the theoretical information they got in class. Field trips are always fun and enjoyable as a social gathering and scientifically enhance and stress the educational information.
Within the schedule of (INTR351 – Heritage of Interior Design), students of Interior Design at the Faculty of Arts and Design have paid a working field visit to 'As-Suhaymi House' in Historic Cairo at 'El Darb El Asfar' street off 'Al Muizz' street. It is one of the prominent houses in Cairo that dates back to the 18th century (Ottoman Period) and is regarded as a perfect example for the style of decoration and designing at that time.
A two days 'Colour Workshop' was held at the Faculty of Arts and Design for the students of Interior Design under the instruction of the artist Mohannad Orabi, a free-lance Syrian Painter and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aleya Abdel-Hadi with the assistance of L. A. Karam Abdallah. The students worked freely exploring the rich world of colouring with acrylic paints, discovering aesthetic effects and using them for further shapes; excitement and creativity were the bases of their positive interaction with their instructor. Their output here on display conveys that feeling of going "Out of the Box".
Last week, the faculty of languages hosted the prominent Dr. Sahar El Mougy to talk about “Looking for the Fairy or the magic wand? A few notes on man's search for happiness”. Sahar Elmougy is an Egyptian writer, assistant professor of American literature (Cairo University). She is also a columnist, creative writing trainer, storyteller and feminist activist. Up her sleeve, she has four books: two collections of short stories and two novels. Her two novels: Daria (1999) and Noon (2007), which won Arab and Mediterranean literary prizes, carved her a place on the Egyptian literary map. Her bestselling novel Noon helped confirm as one of the prominent authors in Egypt. Elmougy conducts a creative writing workshop named after Seshat (the ancient Egyptian goddess of writing).
On receiving the permission from the head of the Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute, Prof .Osama Momtaz and the vice Prof. Shereen Asam, on November 18th, 2013 students of biotechnology and mainly Molecular Genetics students hit their visit to the Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute with the Lecture assistant Amgad Rady. ".

Wednesday, November 13, 2013 marked an important day for the scientific faculties as well as the literary faculties. We were honored to host Dr. Martin Bergfelder, the head of the Scientific Department at the German Embassy, to explore and deliberate the possible collaboration methods between MSA and Germany.
Architecture Department of MSA Faculty of Engineering got the second place for “Best Design for Social Services Center” in “Alkarn Estate” which is a slum area where a committee of Stuttgart University of Germany made a feasibility study geographically to re- plan and develop to enhance and sustain the environment.
Two MSAian Engineering Students have successfully achieved the sixth position in IEEE EMBS International Student Conference 2013
After a constructive presentation of their paper, Eng. Hazem Mohamed Eissa together with Eng. Amr Mahmoud Ahmed, of ECE Department, have succeeded to get the sixth position out of 200 submitted papers to IEEE EMBS International Student conference, from several Egyptian universities. The students' paper titled “Implementation of Smart Ovulation Detection Device", mainly concerns with bio instrumentation.
Faculty of Dentistry Seminar Single File Reciprocating NiTi File System Wave One Dr Elham El Shaboury, head of Endodontic Department, Faculty of Dentistry, organized a very interesting seminar on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. The successful seminar dealt with "Single File Reciprocating" which is a NiTi File System, Wave One. The seminar focused on some of the most objective aspects of this file such as; maximum Coronal access of different teeth, cleaning and shaping with special reference to NiTi instruments in addition to single file reciprocating NiTi File System, Wave One (Design Features)
Aicha Massrali, the assistant lecturer at faculty of Biotechnology, has traveled to the United Kingdom to attend her Msc Graduation Ceremony at Rochester Cathedral, University of Greenwich, UK on 26th July 2013.

You have worked extremely hard over the years and have finally achieved one of your many goals. Ingy Shehata has always been a dynamic catalyst to many humanitarian efforts and is responsible for the success of many of the numerous dental convoys MSA has conducted over the years.
The endless efforts and continuous hard work to support and back-up the students, the Summer Training Committee (STC), Communication and Electronics Department, Faculty of Engineering, gave eight MSAians a chance to start summer internship with one of the world's famous mobile supporter "Motorola-Systel". Once again, our Mass Communications graduation projects were judged by our affiliates and good friends from JWT Advertising, Yassmin Nader (Creative Director), Rami El Kerdani (Senior Art Director), Diana George (Account Manager), Kareem Farid (Planning Analyst), Lauren Wahed (Senior Social Media Editor), Hanan El Bialy (Talent Management). The judges were blown away by the presentations and stated that “JWT were very impressed with two of the MSA projects, the disability and handicrafts projects. We will be affiliated with these two awareness campaigns as part of our CSR initiative.”
Due to the continuous hard work by the Summer Training Committee (STC), Communication and Electronics Department, Faculty of Engineering, four MSAians have started a summer internship with one of the world's Star Alliance members in the field of air navigation services "EGYPT AIR". Here at MSA, we value these collaborations as they work on expanding and diversifying students' professional experiences and preparing them for their professional careers.
Earlier this week, the Faculty of Biotechnology held its graduation project discussions in the attendance of almost 20 external examiners that were hosted by MSA to review and discuss the students’ graduation projects. Following their recent success at the Mittelmeerland Workshop, MSA Architecture students participate at a design workshop in Italy; DOCUMENTATION AND DESIGN WORKSHOP IN TUSKANY-ITALY, TANGLE POCKETS / Life in Utopia. In our quest to expose our students to multi-cultural professional environments and modern techniques and methods, MSA has endorsed the knowledge-seeking, experience-hungry group of students to go to Italy and gain some first-hand knowledge from the leading minds in the field. The group was accompanied by our very own Dr. Bedour Ahmad and Eng. Heba Hussein as representatives of the education committee. The MULTINATIONAL CROSS-DISCIPLINARY DOCUMENTATION AND DESIGN WORKSHOP, ARCHITECTURE AND THE COMMON LIFE INTO THE TUSCANY LANDSCAPE was directed by: Iordanis Stylidis, Assistant Professor at the University of Thessaly – Greece. It also featured discussions and workshops by Professor SASA LADA : Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor VASILIOS IERIDIS : Frederick University, Nicosia, Cyprus. There was a total of 40 students participated from Egypt- Greece- Cyprus, MSA participated with 11 students who did a great job there, massive ideas of design were incorporated with their colleagues from other universities, which always preset the high level education that MSA architecture department. Beside the workshop, the students had a chance to explore the architecture heritage of Rome, Siena, Pisa and Florence; which have had a massive effect on the modern architecture studies. All in all, a great experience and a plentiful of knowledge was passed around and gained by all. Special thanks to Dr. Bedour Ahmad and Eng. Heba Hussein for their effort in making this a reality and thanks to all who work tirelessly to expose MSA students to new, unforgettable knowledge and experience.
Three students from MSA's faculty of engineering presented their graduation project to the ministry of agriculture. Representatives from the ministry were impressed with the project, which is an early warning system that detects and controls plant diseases, and agreed to provide the students with the data necessary for the completion of the project. This project is the first of its kind and is expected to significantly reduce the effects of plant diseases.

Injaz is a competition that selects startup projects that have high-feasibility and high-effect to fund in a way to make them a reality. MSA’s powerhouses Adham Saeed and Ahmed Nagy were there with an ingenious project called Stebn (www.stebn.com), which is basically a bike sharing system to be implemented in Egypt.

The Faculty of Management and Dr. Omnia Zaazou were delighted to host the first exhibit and conference of the projects created for Advertising and Media Campaign (MKT402). The exhibit comprised presentations for the projects submitted by the students and were evaluated by guest judges; Mr. Hazem Derae (Chairman of Look Advertising and the Egyptian Advertising Association; nicknamed The Guru of Egyptian Advertising), Mr. Ahmed Zidan (Deputy general manager of El Ahram Marketing and Advertising Centre; Winner of the Best Global Director Award) and Mr. Ahmed El Shenawy (CEO of Adventure Advertising, partners of Tarek Nour; nicknamed The King of Outdoors).
