Biotechnology's Awards Ceremony

In light of the academic and intellectual accomplishments of the Faculty of Biotechnology’s students and staff, the Faculty organized a very special Awards Ceremony to acknowledge and celebrate those distinguished successes.

 

On Monday 21st of Octiber, the Faculty celebrated student success including highest GPA achievers (GPA 3.9 and above), international competition winners as the competition of Sience Operation Leaders in Egypt (SOLE 2019) and the international conference of Women in Science, as well as students showing remarkable academic efforts and progress.

 

The students’ outstanding successes also included joining the scientific research community through publishing papers in well-known scientific journals with high impact factors. This was achieved as a result of the chance that the faculty offer different host places for its students to run their graduation projects, where each student get the opportunity to carry out 2 completely separate research projects on individual basis in more than 75 graduation host place outside the faculty, as 57357 hospital, Baheya Hospital, Theodor Bilharz Research institute, VACSERA QCAP laboratories, National Cancer Institute and many more.

 

Additionally, the remarkable achievements of assisting staff members, including completion of Master’s degree from GUC and Cairo University and PG Cert degree from Greenwich Univetsity and the acquisition of top awards at esteemed international conferences as one of the assisting staff has won the third place award (best scientific poster) at the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology workshop held in South Africa, were recognized and honoured.
 

 

Furthermore, the faculty celebrated the outstanding efforts of its lab technicians who succeeded in the capacity-building training carried out by the faculty’s very own staff. The training covered a number of topics including lab etiquette, chemicals handling and storage, as well as solutions and lab preparations.

 

The awarded achievers included 18 students with the highest GPAs (GPA 3.9 and above), 21 students with remarkable academic efforts, 8 winners of international competitions, 24 international and national publications, 5 lab technicians who succeeded in the capacity building training, along with 4 assisting staff who achieved new academic milestones and international awards. Last but not least, the faculty honored two students who have set an ideal example of good behavior and practice towards their fellow colleagues and faculty staff, along with honoring one of the university's purchasing department staff for his tremendous efforts.
