MSA University - Faculty of Pharmacy Postgraduate Studies Program

Introduction:

The Faculty of Pharmacy at MSA University is introducing a new Postgraduate Studies Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences beginning the academic year 2022/2023 with a special focus on Microbiology and Immunology. The aim of this program is to provide a solid instructional and research-based foundation in both basic and clinical microbiology and immunology.

The program serves the needs of pharmacists/postgraduates who are seeking a deeper advanced knowledge in order to enhance their professional career and research expertise. The courses will cover all the cutting edge knowledge that enables graduates to excel in this field. The Faculty takes advantage of the unique Faculty Members to illustrate the in-depth concepts in clinical microbiology and immunology.

Moreover, the program is developed by professional British and Egyptian professors to ensure that graduates of this program will have the topnotch knowledge and skills required for this field.

Apart of the experience gained in the basics of bacteriology, virology or immunology, emphasis may be placed on the behind the scene subsidiary topics that enable researchers to be prepared for extraordinary careers in many medicine-/pharmacy-based areas in industry, academia, governmental and health care centers. Areas as precise or targeted medicine, molecular genetics, natural and biopharmaceuticals as well as bioinformatics are not missed.

Program’s Courses:

Several modules embodied within this Master’s Program will provide the candidates with information needed for the following medical fields:

Infection Control: candidates will obtain a certificate in infection control as they will study the new advancement in this field and they will be able to work in hospitals in this highly demanded field.

Microbial Resistance to Antibiotics: as resistance to antibiotics have been recognized by the FDA to be the major cause of morbidity and mortality in some patients, it’s highly important for pharmacists to be specialized in this area in order to provide the patients with the important information needed in infectious cases with multi-resistant strains.

Pharmaco-genetics and Genetic Variability among patients and how it affects their response to antibiotics: Students will study the genetic polymorphisms related to drug responses in order to tailor the drug regimen to each patient by personalizing therapeutic application of drugs, patients will have higher therapeutic outcome and less chance to develop severe side effects.

Advanced genetic techniques in medical microbiology: candidates will have a hands-on in the most advanced technology in the field of microbial genetics which will provide skills needed to work in research centers, pursue an academic career or in diagnosing and treating diseases.

Biopharmaceuticals: the knowledge and the skills required for the manufacture of new biopharmaceuticals will be gained for the cure of viruses and bacterial diseases.

Immunology and Autoimmune Disorders: candidates will study the new advances in autoimmune disorders and how to diagnose and treat these diseases.

Immunotherapy: since this field is considered one of the very advanced therapeutic approaches for treatment of cancers and autoimmune disorders the program was designed to include this comprehensive module to be taught within its advanced concept.

Bioinformatics: the program will provide candidates with the skills needed to utilize the new bioinformatics tools and softwares required in this field.
