Years of study

The students of the faculty of dentistry will be offered by MSA University a five year full time programme divided into two academic levels comprising 10 semesters. Students have to complete successfully 230 credit hours. (212CH faculty requirements, 12CH university requirements and 6CH elective courses). The degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) will be awarded on completion of the programme study.

The curricula of study are divided into 2 phases:
  Â· Pre-clinical phase; which includes the first   6 semesters.
  Â· Clinical phase; which includes the remaining   4 semesters.

Courses in each Phase


Basic Science Phase (year 1)

Chemistry – Physics – Botany – Zoology – Basic Statistics
Dental Students have to pass both English language and Computer Science courses as part of the University's requirements for graduation.

Pre-clinical Phase (years 2 &3)
Year 2
Biochemistry – Anatomy – General Histology – Physiology – Dental Materials – Dental Anatomy
Year 3
Restorative (Level 1) – Oral Biology – Microbiology– Fixed Prosthodontics (level 1) – Removable Prosthodontics (level 1) – General Pathology - Pharmacology  
Clinical Phase (years 4&5)
Year 4
General Medicine – General Surgery – Oral Pathology – Oral Radiology – Oral   Medicine (Level 1) – Oral Surgery (Level 1) – Restorative (Level 2) - Fixed Prosthodontics (level 2) – Removable Prosthodontics (level 2)
Year 5
Orthodontics – Pedodontics – Oral Surgery (Level 2) – Oral Medicine (Level 2) – Restorative (Level 3) - Fixed Prosthodontics (level 3)– Removable Prosthodontics (level 3) - Endodontics.
Elective Modules


Students have the right to select 2 modules with the assistance of their academic advisors, and to pass these modules in order to successfully fulfill the requirements for graduation.
